Lisbeth Zwerger

From 1971 to 1974 she studied illustration at the University of applied Arts in Vienna. In 1976 she first met the publisher Friedrich Neugebauer at the Art-University in Linz, where he taught calligraphy. Friedrich Neugebauer created his publishing house to promote talented, young artists, and to produce beautiful, quite exclusive, picture books from their work. Lisbeth's first book with Neugebauer Press was E.T.A. Hoffmann's tale "The Strange Child". Since then she has illustrated over 30 books, nearly alla of them published with Michael Neugebauer.
Over the years Lisbeth has exhibited her work in several museums, including the Toy Museum in Salzburg (1979), The Museo Civico in Bologna (1990), the Kupferstichkabinett der Akademie der Bildenden Künste inWien (1998), The Norman Rokwell Museum in Massachusets (2002), and the Eki Museum in Kyoto (2002).
Throughout her career, she has been awarded several prestigious awards, and in 1990 she received the coveted H.C.Andersen prize for her life time achievement.
She lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
